An adult and a child stand in front of a hanging train tire, which is the tool used by firefighters before telephones to signal an emergency.
Before we had telephones and 911, a person reporting an emergency would hit a train tire like this with a hammer on Main Street.

Volunteer for the Museum!

Conduct guided tours of the fire museum for community members, school field trips, and various community groups interested in learning about fire department history and fire safety.

  • Represent the museum at community events by providing information and interacting with attendees.
  • One of our biggest needs is volunteers who know how or are interested in learning to drive the antique fire engines to assist with interactive community tours, events, and parades.

Visit our volunteer page to learn more about becoming a volunteer docent and to apply.
